Dayton Flyers coach Archie Miller’s favorite band? Think grunge

The award for the most original NCAA tournament story so far in March goes to Matt Norlander, of CBS Sports, who asked every coach in the NCAA tournament to name their favorite band or musician.

Dayton Flyers coach Archie Miller avoided the temptation to name Dr. Willie Morris and the Dayton pep band and picked a band many of the UD fans in the lower section at UD Arena have probably never heard of or at least have never listened to willingly: Alice in Chains.

Alice in Chains was a popular grunge band from Seattle in the 1990s when Miller, 37, was in high school.

Jim Boeheim, coach of Dayton’s first-round opponent, Syracuse, picked Bruce Springsteen. Archie Miller’s brother Sean, coach of Arizona, picked John Mayer.
