The Cincinnati Reds have at least one big-name believer in what they've done during an active offseason.

Darius Rucker, the lead singer of 1990s pop rock band Hootie and the Blowfish who has forged a successful solo career in country music over the past decade, predicted to his 1.61 million Twitter followers a parade is coming to Fountain Square this fall.

Although Rucker is from South Carolina, the 52-year-old is on record as having grown up rooting for the Reds during the Big Red Machine Era.

His prediction the Reds will win the World Series has been liked more than 10,000 times and drew more than 1,000 responses, including from Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett and pitchers Amir Garrett and Sal Romano.

The Reds have finished in last place in the National League Central four years in a row, but this offseason have made multiple major acquisitions in an attempt to slam the door shut on their rebuild.

The biggest move came Dec. 21 when they traded Homer Bailey and two prospects to the Dodgers for outfielders Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp and utility player Kyle Farmer along with left-handed pitcher Alex Wood.

Prior to that, they traded for right-handed starter Tanner Roark from the Nationals, and most recently they acquired righty Sonny Gray from the Yankees.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Goodyear, Ariz., on Feb. 13.
