About the Flyers

They’re still not at full strength since Luke Fabrizius is recovering from a sprained knee, but Chris Johnson, perhaps the team’s best all-around player, returned to action this week with 12 points against Boston University after missing almost two full games with a concussion. Another sidelined player, Marcus Johnson (sprained foot), also is back in the rotation. ... The Flyers are shooting 46 percent from the field. They’ve shot better than 45 percent just once in coach Brian Gregory’s first six years (46.9 in 2007-08).

About the Lobos

They’ve won 18 straight at home and are 48-2 in their last 50 non-league games at the Pit. ... They finished 17th nationally in attendance last year with an average of 13,994. They’re drawing 12,823 so far this season. ... They’re 3-0 against ranked teams, beating California, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. ... They’re out-scoring foes by 14.1 points per game. ... Martinez leads the Mountain West Conference in 3-pointers, making 44-of-93 (.473).

FYI

New Mexico’s University Arena, more commonly known as The Pit, was built in 1966-67 and was used as a model by Tom Frericks, then the Flyers’ athletic director, while drawing up plans for UD Arena. The Lobos are 623-144 at home in that span (.812 winning percentage), while the Flyers are 500-181 (.734) in their 40 seasons at the arena.
