UD cross country runner Lemon fastest at Catholic Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — University of Dayton senior Chris Lemon won the National Catholic Invitational cross country event hosted by Notre Dame on Friday.

Lemon was first of 285 runners, finishing the 8K in a time of 24 minutes, 5 seconds. He has won every race he has run this season. He beat Notre Dame’s Dan Jackson by five seconds and helped the Flyers finish in a tie for second place of 35 teams. Notre Dame won.

UD’s Matt Lemon finished sixth, Greg Roeth was 13th, Kyle Lowry was 22nd and Jeremy Schiele was 34th. Schiele ran the final four miles of the race with one shoe.

The UD women’s team also finished second. Senior Maureen Bulgrin finished second in the 5K in 17:38. Teammate Liz Coorey was third in 17:48.
