Surely if the Big Dance field expands to 96 teams — as expected — it’ll swallow up what we know as the postseason tourney that no team wants to ... play in. That would be the NIT, and after Thursday’s surprise 79-68 slaying of North Carolina, UD probably can retire that championship banner — or three — for good.
Hard to figure these Flyers out.
This is hardly the team that flopped so miserably as the regular season wound down. Yet, if Atlantic 10 foes could figure out how to best stop UD, how could BCS teams Cincinnati, Illinois, Mississippi and North Carolina be so ... clueless? And good thing for the Flyers.
If success only were so easy as flipping a toggle switch.
Curiously, that’s exactly how best to explain UD’s season. We just never knew which team had its heart light on, except maybe at UD Arena.
And in the unsuspecting NIT Tournament.
