The Reds promoted Sal Romano from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday to make his big-league debut against the Milwaukee Brewers. They also called up Tim Adleman, who made one start in Louisville. The Reds placed starter Brandon Finnegan on the 10-day DL and sent outfielder Jesse Winker back to Triple-A Louisville to make room on the roster.
The Reds have not announced their starting rotation plans beyond Thursday. Their plans hinge in part on how Rookie Davis progresses. He’s on the 10-day disabled list after being hit a by pitch last week in Pittsburgh.
“Right now, Sal’s here to start and Tim’s (Adleman) here to pitch out of the bullpen,” Price said. “That’s how we line up. We know that we have Cody (Reed) and Robert (Stephenson) here as well that are big candidates. We don’t know what’s happening with Rookie and whether he’ll be able to slot back in when he’s supposed to come off on the 22nd. So, there’s a lot of things up in the air. Most of the candidates that could slot into the rotation are already here. We’ve just to figure out what our best group looks like and how to slot them in there and continue to get the starters and relievers enough regular work to warrant them staying here. That will be a challenge.”
