Browns will stand with public safety officials for anthem

The Cleveland Browns will join public safety officials in standing for the national anthem before Sunday’s season opener against the Steelers.

Cleveland police officers, EMTs, firefighters and members of U.S. armed forces will join the team during the pregame festivities, Browns officials and players confirmed.

There will be a video before anthem regarding unity and standing together. Browns players and executives have recently worked to build a sense of family among the team and community.

"We want to unify and not create a disconnect between us and our fans or anyone else watching the games," Tight end Randall Telfer said. "We don't mean any disrespect toward the flag, the national anthem, law enforcement or any civil servant. We have a clear vision of what we hope this nation and this community can be like. Those are the steps we're taking."
