Three women — Reva Stout, Sherri Leffel and Kathleen Swonger — will be inducted into the Springfield District Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
They’ll be inducted at the Clark County bowling banquet May 6.
Cosby holds the house record at Shamrock Lanes with an 855 series. He’s averaged 200 for the last 20 years.
Hurst was the Clark County doubles champion in 1988 and the actual champion in 1996. He’s averaged 200 each year in his career.
Swigert has won the Clark County senior tournament title and has been a league president for 25 years.
Taylor is a longtime bowling coach and former director of the Clark County Bowling Association who has bowled 13 career 300 games.
Stout has been a member of the SWDBA for 30 years. She’s won the city tournament in team handicap, singles and the all-events actual.
Leffel, a 26-year member, has won the city tourney team handicap title and has been a youth bowling coach for 17 years.
Swonger is the first inductee to the new Veterans hall-of-fame category. She’s won both the 600 club doubles and the team actual title at the city tourney.
Ladies tourney
Two area teams tied for the team handicap title at the 66th annual SDWBA city tournament held at Northridge Lanes on March 5-13.
The Fun Bunch team of Jane Bloom, Teresa Dewitt, Ruby Begley, Roberta Havholm and Jennifer Owens, and the Lucky Ladies team of Mellanie Toles, Trish Wagner, Kim Armentrout, Deborah Wagner and Nancy Belcher each finished with 3,392 pins.
The Fun Bunch team won the team actual with 3,331 pins.
Stephanie Friday and Amy Larson won the doubles handicap (1,466), while Dewitt and Havholm won the doubles actual title (1,282).
Linda Bolen won both the singles handicap (752) and all-events handicap (2,219) events, while Andrea Behr won the singles actual (701) and Havholm won the all-events actual (1,981).
High honors
Several members of the SWDBA were honored at the Ohio USBC WBA convention on Feb. 25-27.
Havholm was awarded the Rilla Yeater Publication Award for the third year in a row for the SDWBA Ten Pin Tattler.
Edie Smith received the Sam Levine Memorial Award for best news story for her article on Mary Lou Remsberg published in the Fall 2010 issue of the Ten Pin Tattler. She also received the Leigh Betts Memorial Photography Award for a photo taken at the 2010 South Vienna Corn Festival.
Vickie Sibole, president of the SDWBA, was presented the prestigious Buckeye Bowling Writers Ruth Heath Trott Award for excellence in bowling involvement.
