Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict suspended 4 games for violating PED policy

Vontaze Burfict is facing a 4-game suspension from the NFL after the league announced the star Cincinnati Bengals linebacker had violated its policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

The NFL hasn’t announced a date for a potential appeal.

Burfict has been suspended by the NFL three times, but this is the first involving PEDs. His previous suspensions were for on-the-field behavior, including an illegal hit.

His last suspension was last season after an illegal hit in a preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was suspended in 2016 for multiple violations of league safety rules.

Marc Sessler of NFL.com described Burfict as “an energetic defender (who) has been forced to pay out of the pocket for multiple hits on defenseless players, flipping the middle finger to fans, ankle twisting, spearing and striking a player in the groin.”
