Bengals pick up fifth-year option on Dennard

The Cincinnati Bengals on Friday picked up the fifth-year option on cornerback Darqueze Dennard, locking up the team’s 2014 first-round draft pick through the 2018 season.

Dennard has appeared in 40 games with four starts. He played in 15 games with three starts last year, logging 41 tackles on defense and six on special teams.

Dennard is one of four first-round cornerbacks on the roster, along with William Jackson, Dre Kirkpatrick and Adam Jones.

Kirkpatrick is signed through 2022, Jackson through 2021 and Jones through 2019.
