Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said he hasn’t seen former kicker Jake Elliott’s game-winning 61-yard field goal, but special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons told him about it Sunday after the 27-24 overtime loss at Green Bay.

“We’re rooting for Jake,” Lewis said. “We drafted him. We thought he was a good player.”

The Bengals picked Elliott in the fifth round and put him in a kicking competition with veteran Randy Bullock, who won the job by going 6 of 7 on field goals in the preseason while Elliott was 4 of 7.

After cutting Elliott on Sept. 2, the Bengals brought him back the next day on the practice squad. But the Eagles signed him to their active roster Sept. 12 after Caleb Sturgis went on Injured Reserve with a quad injury.

Elliott also hit a 46-yarder in the final minute Sunday to tie the game against the Giants before hitting the franchise-record 61-yarder and being carried off the field by his teammates.

Elliott, who also missed a kick earlier in Sunday’s game, is 3 of 5 this season. Bullock is 4 of 5 for the Bengals.
