Meet the Dragons: Andrew Means

Fast facts: OF, 22, from Avon Lake, Ohio.

Claim to fame: Helped his high school team win the state football championship with a 15-0 record as a junior wide receiver in 2004, then played football and baseball at Indiana.

Quote: "In high school, I played baseball, football, basketball and ran track. Whatever we were playing at the time was my sport."

History: Played three seasons of baseball at IU and was second-team All-Big Ten as a sophomore and first-team as a junior. Also played three years of football after redshirting as a freshman. Gave up his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft, but was not chosen and decided to concentrate on baseball. The Reds made him their 11th-round pick in 2008. He spent the rest of that season at rookie Billings, Mont. He joined the Dragons on May 20 this season from extended spring training.

Outlook: "Football is still in the back of my head. I think about it, but baseball is my sport now. I could have signed with an NFL team as a free agent, but I want to concentrate on this. I added 10 pounds of muscle for football, but I'd like to get down to 210 after being up to 217."
