“All these guys were telling me how crazy the environment was, and I was a little nervous going up there for my first time,” said LaMarre, assigned to Dayton after being selected by the Cincinnati Reds from the University of Michigan in the second round of the recent amateur draft.
LaMarre, who has been playing center field in the absence of Andrew Means (broken finger), had been 3-for-19 in five road games before settling into the batter’s box here for the first time Friday, June 18.
He went 1-for-4 in the Dragons’ 3-1 Midwest League win over the first-place Great Lakes Loons.
“I had a blast,” LaMarre said. “The stadium’s great, they fill it, all the fans are excited and they do a great job entertaining between innings.”
