It has 30,000 live bats (gulp).
WHAT TO EXPECT AT LEWISBURG HAUNTED CAVE
Take a haunted tour or a real cave 80-feet below ground with live bats and haunted bridges.
The cave holds a Guinness World Record for longest walk-through horror house (3,564 feet).
For the real scaredy cats (and we don't blame you), you can also take a non-scary tractor-drawn underground wagon ride through the old limestone mining operation while a narrator tells the unique story. More information can be found here.
USA TODAY’S ‘BEST HAUNTED ATTRACTION’
In 2018, On USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice list for Best Haunted Attractions, two of Ohio's spookiest spots made the list. The Lewisburg Haunted Cave in Lewisburg came in at No. 1. The Dead Acres Haunted Hoochie in Pataskala was the other Ohio winner, coming in at No. 3.
"Located 80 feet below ground in a real limestone cave, the world's longest walk-through haunt is made even more creepy thanks to some 30,000 live bats," according to the USA Today article. What's more eerie than a real cave with fluttering bats overhead?
Ohio is home to three of the total 20 nominees, making the Buckeye State the second most featured on the list, next to California. You can check out all 10 winners on 10best.com.
The haunted houses and destinations up for vote were selected by USA Today’s 10 Best Local Experts and editors who chose the options based on best actors, set designs, special effects and value for money.
