AAA: Delays expected as millions of Ohioans travel for Thanksgiving

ajc.com

AAA estimates nearly 2.3 million Ohioans will travel this year for Thanksgiving, with record breaking delays expected on the day before the holiday.

This will be the second highest Thanksgiving travel volume since AAA began tracking in 2000, trailing the record-setting 58.6 million that traveled in 2005.

The three days leading up to Thanksgiving are expected to be the worst times to travel, and the Wednesday, Nov. 27 is expected to be the worst travel day with trips taking as much as four times longer than normal.

For those traveling:

Gas prices are currently cheaper than the national average and will save people a little extra money to spend elsewhere, such as on a rental car which has reached the highest prices on record for Thanksgiving since 1999.

Airline ticket prices are also at the lowest on the Monday before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving day.
