Police: Intruders ransack Springfield home during break-in, were likely searching for something

A Springfield home was ransacked during a break-in on Sunday, according to a police report.

Springfield police began their investigation when they were dispatched to a home in the 1700 block of Kenton Street. The resident told police that she left the home between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and returned to find someone had been in the home, according to a police report.

“Her entire house had been ransacked,” the report says. “It appeared that whoever was in her house had tossed the house looking for something in particular. (She) stated that she doesn’t believe anything was taken but was unsure because of the condition of her house.”

The report says there were no signs of forced entry, but there was a window that was unlocked. There have been no arrests in the case, according to the report.
