Northeastern, Greenon schools dismiss first day early due to heat

All Northeastern Local Schools will dismiss early today, according to a post on the district’s Facebook page.

Schools will be dismissed early “due to excessive temperatures inside the buildings,” the post said.

The elementary schools will dismiss at 1 p.m. and the middle and high schools will dismiss at 2:15 p.m.

Greenon Local Schools will also dismiss students two hours early today due to excessive temperatures, according to a post on the district’s Facebook page.

Greenon Jr./Sr. High School dismissed at 12:10 p.m., Enon Primary will dismiss at 1:15 p.m. and Indian Valley will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.

“We will continue to monitor forecasted temperatures for the end of the week and encourage parents to plan for the possibility of early dismissals on Thursday and Friday,” the post said.

Southeastern Local Schools also canceled their first day of school today due to the heat, Superintendent David Shea said.

Shea added he felt it was going to be too hot as their buildings do not have air conditioning.
