Kasich-Taylor inaugural events to kick off at rock hall of fame

COLUMBUS — Gov.-elect John Kasich and Lt. Gov.-elect Mary Taylor will celebrate their inauguration with four days of activities, starting with a kickoff on Friday, Jan. 7, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland.

The kickoff is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Kasich will be officially sworn in as Ohio’s 69th governor shortly after midnight on Jan. 10 in a private ceremony. Taylor and Kasich will participate in a ceremonial inauguration from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the Ohio Theatre in Columbus.

The Taylor-Kasich New Day Committee has launched an official inauguration website, www.NewDayOhio.com, that includes a schedule of events.

“The public is encouraged to visit NewDayOhio.com frequently over the next month to learn more about the inaugural activities and how they might become part of an historic new beginning for the state of Ohio,” Doug Preisse, chairman of the New Day Committee, said Monday in a press release.

The schedule also in- cludes a tribute to Ohio’s new first lady, Karen Kasich, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Columbus Museum of Art.

Other activities include:

• Saturday, Jan. 8: Family Day at the Statehouse, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ohio Statehouse. Young Leaders reception, 8 to 11 p.m., Ohio Union at Ohio State University

• Sunday, Jan. 9: Inaugural celebration reception, 7 to 10 p.m., Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus

• Monday, Jan. 10: Inaugural gala, 6 to 10 p.m., Columbus Convention Center
