WWE wrestlers plead guilty after incident at gas station

CRESCENT SPRINGS, KY. — Two WWE wrestlers pled guilty by phone and paid fines for an incident of public intoxication in Kenton County last month, according to our news partners Local 12.

“Chris Jericho”, whose real name is Christopher Irvine was arrested Jan. 28, along with fellow wrestler Gregory Shane Helms, known by the name “Hurricane Helms.” The two men were allegedly fighting in a cab at the Shell station on Buttermilk Pike in Crescent Springs.

Both men were charged with public intoxication but were released on bond. They were in the area taking part in a WWE event at US Bank Arena.

Helms pled guilty by phone Tuesday and paid a fine, but Irvine didn’t show up for his hearing. An arrest warrant was issued and Irvine then called in, pled guilty, and paid his fine as well.

Helms has won a number of professional wrestling titles including the European Championship and the Cruiserweight Championship. Irvine has won the WWA World Tag Team Championship and was named Wrestler of the Year in 2008. He once laid claim to being the undisputed world champion after beating Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock in 2001.
