WPAFB to hold public meeting on possible Ohio 444 closure

FAIRBORN — Residents and business leaders are invited to a public hearing and open house Dec. 21 to discuss Wright-Patterson Air Force Base plans that could include closing part of Ohio 444 between Dayton-Yellow Springs Road and Dayton Drive.

The project is intended to consolidate and reconfigure base gates, to conform with updated anti-terrorism security standards, and to extend the base’s perimeter fence to encompass the Kittyhawk Center located on the base’s east side.

The Air Force is convening the open house and public hearing between 6 and 9 p.m. on Dec. 21 at Fairborn High School, 900 E.Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. Wright-Patterson is also accepting public comments through Jan. 17, 2012, on the plans before a final environmental impact statement is prepared.
