Truck exiting I-70 crashes on US 68

SPRINGFIELD — A tractor-trailer ended up on its side after trying to exit Interstate 70 onto U.S. Route 68 about 1:40 p.m. today.

Smoke billowed from the truck’s refrigeration unit and could be seen about a mile away. That slowed vehicles in the area, but because the truck landed in the median, lanes remained open.

The truck was getting onto US 68 southbound when the accident occurred.

The driver was out of the vehicle and talked with first responders at the scene.
