“It’s a definite path of damage,” said Mike Robbins, Mercer County Emergency Management Agency’s deputy director.
The tornado first touched down on Lake Shore Drive in Celina on the northeast side of Grand Lake and continued to move northeast. The Celina ALDI store near Ohio 29 was destroyed and the roof torn off a Menards outlet, Robbins said.
“The debris field is probably two miles long,” Robbins said .
The damage in Auglaize was in line with that in Celina, said Troy Anderson, director of the Auglaize County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management in Wapakoneta. Anderson said several barns were destroyed and homes damaged. The damage was in a 20-yard pattern and debris was sporadic for about eight miles leading to the Allen County line, he said.
Jeff Sites, weather service meteorologist, noted reports of possible tornadoes in suburban Columbus and near Cincinnati. No one was injured.
The Associated Press reported that the storms left more than 55,000 Ohio customers without power.
Winds nearly 80 miles per hour blew through Lebanon in Warren County early Wednesday, toppling trees and damaging homes. The straight line winds significantly damage to condominiums on Rough Way.
Also in Warren County, emergency crews used a boat to rescue a woman trapped in her car at the flooded intersection of Waynesville and Middletown roads.
