With a small break from the frigid temperatures this weekend, you may want to venture out. Here are the top 3 things to do this weekend in Springfield:

Tony Powell Acoustic Christmas Show

Local guitarist Tony Powell will perform his solo acoustic show at Buckeye Sports Lodge, located at 126 W. High St. in Springfield, on Saturday, Dec. 17. Powell will shower Buckeye Lodge with Christmas classics and holiday favorites. The show begins at 9 p.m.

The Nutcracker

It’s the time of year when visions of sugar plums dance in children’s dreams and a Sugar Plum Fairy and assorted other characters dance on the stage. The holiday tradition of “The Nutcracker,” as presented by the Ohio Performing Arts Institute, will make it 27th annual appearance on the local stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Clark State Performing Arts Center.

The Historic Clifton Mill

The light show began in 1987 with about 100,000 lights. Almost 30 years later, the show has grown tremendously to more than 4 million lights used to create the one-of-a-kind show.

In addition to the light show, Clifton Mill will feature its expanded miniature village collection.
