Surveillance captures North Carolina KFC explosion

Watch the moment an explosion destroyed the KFC restaurant in Eden, North Carolina. A drug store across the street with surveillance captured the devastating explosion.

The explosion happened around 12:45 am Thursday at the business which is located on North Van Buren Road.

Local police said they received a call around 12:45 am alerting them to the explosion. Officials said debris was scattered and thrown on the road and nearby parking lot. Local energy and natural gas companies were called, along with the ATF and State Fire Marshall.

Investigators said they are still trying to figure out what led to the explosion. Firefighters, officers and state officials are working together to get information.

The explosion damaged several nearby businesses. The damage to those buildings included busted and broken windows.

There were no injuries when the explosion happened.
