Surgical Associates moves to larger location

SPRINGFIELD — Surgical Associates of Springfield Inc. reopened to patients March 29 in its new 10,000 square foot space in the Kissell Center, 30 Warder St.

Surgical Associate’s move from its space in the Mercycrest Medical Arts Building accommodates an increase in patients, due in part to the opening of a vein treatment center about three years ago, according to Dr. Jennifer Daniels, one of six partner surgeons.

After several months, the partners decided the Kissell Center was a good fit for the practice, which Daniels said is the first medical group in building.

The center’s additional space and its proximity to downtown and the new Ohio Valley Medical Center were selling points for choosing the location, she said.

Building owner The Warder Group invested approximately $150,000 to convert the space formerly occupied by Avetec, said Chris Simonton who, with Brian Scanlan, owns The Warder Group.

Avetec moved to the Nextedge Applied Research & Technology Park.

Tectonic, of which Simonton is the president, serves as the Kissell Center’s development and property manager.

“For our side, we are extremely excited to have them join our other clients in the Kissell Center,” Simonton said.

“It represents what we think will be the first of many medical groups relocating to the downtown area in order to take advantage of the efficiencies associated with being located in close proximity to the two new downtown hospitals,” he said.
