Name: Helen Horton
School: Shawnee High School
Extra-curricular: Student Council, National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Shawnee High Random Acts of Kindness (SHARKS), YOUmedia Student Advisory Board
Claim to fame/honors: I create my own makeup and style videos on my YouTube channel. I’m also a Student Advisory Board member to YOUmedia Springfield. My passion and determined work ethic also play a major role in any endeavor I choose to pursue.
Toughest challenge: Juggling a social life, academics, extracurricular activities and my sanity while still managing to get adequate hours of sleep per night can be quite difficult at times.
Biggest influence: My mom. She does so much for me. She’s taught me so many important lessons and has provided me with unconditional love and support.
School-day rituals: I usually wake up around 6 a.m. and do my skincare routine, put on my makeup, get dressed, grab a bite to eat and head to school. At the end of the school day, I head to YOUmedia Springfield to work on either my YouTube videos or any other project I have in mind. When I’m finished there, I’ll complete my homework, check social media, eat dinner and try to get to sleep at a decent time to do it all over again the next day.
What’s on your bedroom walls: My walls are covered in pictures of my friends in group selfies, vacation memories and band posters.
When I’m bored I like to … Watch YouTube makeup tutorials, hang out with friends and go shopping.
