State loans to create 50 new jobs at WSU, Senator says

The Ohio Development Financing Advisory Council has approved loans and assistance to four companies across Ohio, including the Wright State Applied Research Corp., part of the Wright State Research Institute, which will create 50 new jobs, according to State Sen. Chris Widener, R-Springfield.

In all, the projects approved by Advisory Council will create 160 new jobs and retain 92 jobs, Widener said. Wright State’s Applied Research Corp. will create 50 new jobs at an average hourly wage of $42.31, the senator said.

The state’s loan to the corporation comprises 70 percent of the money required for the project, with the university covering the additional 30 percent, to buy and renovate a 34,000-square-foot facility in Beavercreek, along with machinery and equipment.

Messages were left with Widener and a WSU spokesman.
