The Springfield Family YMCA looks to put a modern twist on the traditional parent/child dance.

Kids in Springfield can enjoy a memorable evening with their parent and parent figures as the Springfield YMCA will host their inaugural Parent & Child Dance on Saturday, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The primary goal of the dance is to provide a family friendly event for traditional and non-traditional families, said Brady Howell, YMCA Springfield coordinator.

“Traditionally these dances are father/daughter dances and we wanted to open up the dance to mothers and sons, as well as those who are parent figures in children’s lives,” Howell said.

The event will feature a dance competition, ice cream bar, selfie booth, refreshments and more.

The cost is $15 for members, $25 for non-members. The price includes one adult and one child; $5 for each additional child.
