Springfield tour series to include tour of Ferncliff

A Ferncliff Cemetery walking tour will be available at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, as part of the Summer Tour Series 2016.

The series includes walking, bicycle, coach and happy hour tours. Architects, curators, historians, and local professionals guide each tour.

Its many mausoleums and memorials, including those of leading citizens and industrialists, are replete with religious symbolism and imagery.

Guests can join Ferncliff historian Ski Schanher on a tour of the property as he interprets Springfield’s history preserved in stone. Visitors will meet at the Ferncliff Cemetery Chapel, 501 W. McCreight Ave.
