Springfield Soup Kitchen offering free Hepatitis A vaccinations

Springfield Soup Kitchen will be offering free Hepatitis A vaccinations today in response to an increase in cases in Clark County.

According to a Facebook post on Tuesday, the soup kitchen will be offering Hepatitis A vaccines due to the recent outback of the infection.

The post reads: “On account of the current increase in Hepatitis A outbreak vaccinations will be available at the Springfield Soup Kitchen. Tomorrow, 13th February at 830 West Main Street Springfield CCCHD will be inoculating those in need of Hepatitis A vaccine from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and then again from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.”

The Clark County Combined Health District has reported 38 cases of Hepatitis A have been investigated as of Feb. 5, 23 of which are connected to the current outbreak reported in Ohio, the health district said in a media release Monday.

Before the statewide outbreak that started in 2018, the last confirmed case in Clark County was in 2011, the health district said.

Ohio currently reports 1,595 cases connected to the statewide outbreak.
