“We’re excited to bring a chicken sandwich to our customers,” Chuck Cooper, President and CEO of Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken said in a press release. “With all the news about chicken sandwiches, our fans have been clamoring to see a chicken sandwich on our menu and we’re happy to be able to bring the famous flavor and quality to them in a sandwich form.
The chicken sandwich features a “four-ounce, hand-battered and honey-dipped white meat chicken fillet topped with dill pickles and chipotle ranch dressing, served on a warm brioche bun,” the press release explained.
Customers will have two flavor options - the Spicy or Famous Recipe sandwich.

The sandwich may sound familiar to some residents because the South Limestone Street location in Springfield and New Carlisle location was a part of the test-run in late November through early December, Scott Griffith, the President and General Manager of the Springfield and New Carlisle Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken locations said.
“I’m really excited to be offering the chicken sandwich,” Griffith said. “The test went phenomenally well - so much so that we are rolling it system wide.”
The Springfield and New Carlisle location did not test the spicy version of the sandwich.
“It’s finally a chicken sandwich that is famous,” Griffith said. “Whenever we do a limited time offer I always cringe because the next day we have created fans of this product, so it’s really hard on our people to do that and for our customers.”
This limited-time-offer is available until June 28, according to a press release from Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken.

“With a limited menu concept like ours and our competitors, we plan to do one thing and do it well,” Griffith said. “We can’t do everything all the time, so that’s why it has to go away sometimes.”
Griffith said he is thankful for the continuous support of his customers during the coronavirus pandemic.
“It has been tough for our people to stay on the front-lines, but we are just glad that we have the opportunity to keep going to work and to be able to serve customers,” Griffith said.
Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken has four locations in Clark County - 410 W. Columbia St. in Springfield, 301 E. Home Road in Springfield, 1902 S. Limestone St. in Springfield and 303 N. Main St. in New Carlisle.
