UPDATE @ 8:30 p.m.

A 69-year-old Springfield man was killed tonight when he was hit by a car while walking in the middle of Stine Road, Sgt. Travis H. Woodyard of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post said.

The crash was reported around 6:20 p.m. in the 7200 block of Stine Road near Enon.

The man, whose name and age was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

“He was walking in the right lane, walking away from traffic, which would be on the wrong side of the highway,” the sergeant said. “He was actually in the middle of the right lane, from what I understand, with his back to traffic.”

Woodyard said speed does not appear to be a factor. The crash site was in a 35 mph zone.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, was shaken following the fatality crash, the sergeant said.

The crash remains under investigation.
