Springfield man indicted, charged with attempted rape of a child under 13

A Springfield man has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13.

Thomas Boucher, 62, was indicted in Clark County Common Pleas Court on charges of attempted rape and gross sexual imposition.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office began their investigation into Boucher when they were contacted by a woman on May 7, 2019, who said she witnessed Boucher assaulting a girl, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

The woman told the sheriff’s deputy that she saw Boucher in a camper with his pants down to his knees and the child undressed and performing a sex act on him, according to the affidavit.

“On May 8, Thomas Boucher came to headquarters,” the affidavit says. “Mr. Boucher admitted being in the camper with (the victim) on May 6.”

The affidavit says Boucher also admitted to touching the victim illegally. Boucher was then arrested and charged, the affidavit said.

The next court date in Boucher’s case has not yet been scheduled.
