Springfield business with over 35 years of experience moves downtown

A local business with more than 35 years of experience in Springfield opened at their new downtown location on Tuesday.

Frame Haven, an art and framing shop, has moved to 126. E. Main St. from 1300 Goodwin Ave.

“In the last year or so the thought of moving downtown became more and more attractive,” owner Audrey McKanna said. “There are so many exciting shops opening up in Springfield, restaurants are heading this way and a large part of our customers encouraged us to look downtown.”

McKanna and her husband Don have framed all kinds of objects since opening their business, from guitars and floral bouquets to more complicated objects like leather chaps and a 1910 catchers uniform.

“We frame anything that people bring in,” McKanna said. “Framing a simple poster to make it attractive for someone’s wall because they like that brings us so much pleasure.”

The couple searched for six months for the perfect downtown spot, McKanna said.

“When we found a property that suited us well, we were thrilled to begin the next chapter in Frame Haven’s story,” McKanna said.

The framing business will have framing products “in-house” to frame most objects in two days or less if the customer is in a rush, but the process usually takes seven to 10 days.

“If we can help them put something on their wall that brings back a memory, stirs up good emotion - it is so wonderful,” McKanna said.

Frame Haven will hold two grand openings. One on Friday, March 6 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and the other on Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pictures on the wall will be on sale and customers will receive a free print by a local artist, McKanna said.

Frame Haven’s hours 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

“We just want to continue having fun framing things,” McKanna said.
