A decades-old Springfield auto repair business is adding a new location for the first time with a new garage in Enon next month.
Rogers Garage, 4040 St. Paris Pike, is planning to open a new location in downtown Enon early next month, said Todd Rogers, whose family has owned the business since 1972. Rogers is taking over the former Enon Auto Service LLC., 425 E Main St., in Enon, and will open a new garage Sept. 1.
The new garage will have at least three mechanics, and Rogers said he also hired an additional manager to work at the original garage in Springfield. The new business will be called Rogers Garage Main Street.
“We had been looking to expand because we are always so busy, and to be honest we don’t have more room for more work most of the time,” Rogers said. “We thought this would be a good area for us to be in, and this garage came open and it just seemed like a great idea.”
The Springfield location has 13 repair bays and provides services including brakes, transmission service, oil changes and wheel alignment.
Three generations of the family will soon have worked in the business. Keith Rogers opened the garage as a specialty hot rod shop in 1972, and Todd Rogers eventually took over. Todd’s son Brandon Rogers also plans to take a job at the garage after graduating from Wright State University.
Adding another local business will benefit the village, said Scott Griffith, past president of the Western Clark County Business Coalition.
“The opportunity to provide another local family service in Enon makes Western Clark County a better place to live,” Griffith said.
The Enon location will handle most services that the Springfield location offers, but major engine work will take place at the original location. The Enon location will also sell tires, which the original location did not in the past.
The Springfield location has grown over the years, but ran out of room to expand further.
“We were really just looking at how we could expand without doing it here,” Todd Rogers said.
