Southeastern high school seniors walked across the stage Saturday morning in a semi-traditional ceremony.

The 48 graduating seniors walked across the stage to receive their diplomas in the ceremony that started at 10 a.m. on the football field.

Each graduate could bring up to nine guests, and everyone was encouraged to wear a mask.

The semi-traditional ceremony was possible by the district assigning chairs that were arranged on the field for families and graduates to social distance.

“I’m just thankful that I got to walk across that stage and see my classmates one more time,” said graduate Mozie Vanraaij. “I’ve been looking forward to this since the first day of freshman year… I’m just thankful.”

Mozie’s mother said she is glad the school pushed the ceremony back so students could have as close of a traditional graduation as possible.

“I am very thankful they did this, that they pushed it back, that they waited because our kids deserved that,” said Mollie Vanraaij. “It’s a small community anyway, so I think it was possible and they did a great job.”
