Chance of showers, storms this morning after storms produce quarter-sized hail in Butler, Warren counties

As a line of strong storms moved through the area late Wednesday, trained weather spotters reported quarter-sized hail in Monroe and penny-sized hail in Liberty Twp. in Butler County, and hail of nickel and quarter sizes were reported in Mason in Warren County, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Some parts of the Miami Valley had significant hail early Wednesday morning after the first round of strong storms to move through the region.

The storms that swept through the area on Wednesday also brought record-breaking rainfall, the NWS said, with rainfall at the Dayton International Airport measured at 1.31 inches, breaking the old rainfall record for April 8 of 1.22 inches set in 2015.
