We will start out today with a low chance of showers around dawn south of Interstate 70, but the chances of both rain and thunderstorms will rapidly rise around noon for some afternoon storms, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Around and north of I-70, the NWS said that we can expect to see a few early storms with gusty winds through daybreak.

This afternoon, the NWS predicts more widespread storms than we saw on Friday, with the main hazards being damaging wind gusts, heavy downpours and frequent lightning.

The rain will carry over into the night, although the chances of thunderstorms will wane somewhat around 11 p.m.

Temperatures will be warm, reaching near 86 degrees during the day and falling to around 70 degrees overnight.

Tomorrow, we will continue to have a steady chance of showers all day, with a chance of thunderstorms joining in at around 8 a.m. The rain chances will remain fairly steady through the night, although it will dip slightly.

Temperatures tomorrow will be very similar to today, with a high of around 86 degrees, though with temperatures dipping a little further to 68 degrees overnight.

On Monday, we will continue to see that chance for showers and thunderstorms during the day and overnight, but we will see some breaks in the clouds during the day for partly sunny skies.

Temperatures will continue to stay in the upper 80s, with highs reaching around 89 degrees. Combined with climbing humidity, the NWS described Monday’s conditions as bordering between “Oppressive” and “Are you kidding?”

Overnight, though, they will cool off back to around 68 degrees.
