OSU Extension to offer dining with diabetes series

OSU Extension – Clark County will offer a workshop series “Dining with Diabetes” on Thursdays, Feb. 11, 18 and 25 (snow date March 3) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each day at the Springview Government Center (lower level), 3130 E. Main St. The six-hour class is open to those with diabetes, their family members and caretakers. It is designed primarily for those with Type 2 diabetes, but the information is also pertinent for those with Type 1. The program registration fee is $10 per person, and paid pre-registration is required, as space is limited.

Participants will learn how to plan and prepare meals that are healthy and use less fat, salt and sugar without sacrificing flavor. Recipes will be demonstrated and participants will have the opportunity to taste each one.

Diabetes is a serious and costly disease, but research has shown that those who learn to manage their blood glucose (sugar) levels, eat healthy and exercise regularly can lower their risk of complications and lead to a healthier and more productive life.

If interested in participating, contact the Extension office at 937-521-3860 for further information. STAFF REPORT
