Springfield sandwich shop reopens under new name

Jon Smiths Subs in Springfield recently re-opened under the new name ‘Grill Time Express.’

The franchise came to Springfield in June 2018, becoming the first Jon Smiths Subs location in Ohio.

Owner Kim Walden said the business struggled and was on the verge of closing. Walden said she then decided to open the restaurant under a new name and update the menu.

Walden said Grill Time Express offers four of the same sandwiches, including steak, tuna, chicken, and turkey, as well as new items like quesadillas and gyros.

The restaurant is located at 1013 N. Bechtle Ave.

Springfield Tropical Smoothie Cafe owner receives national award from company

Tim Poulous, owner of the Tropical Smoothie Cafe at 233 E. Home Rd., was honored at the company’s 2019 national convention. Poulous received the 2019 Single-Unit Franchisee of the Year award.

The award recognizes the Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchisee who values core brand principles and has distinguished themselves through outstanding performance and consistent support of and commitment to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe system.

New Winans location set to open in Springfield

Winans Chocolates & Coffees will be a tenant in the new NCF Savings Bank Springfield location.

The new Winans will be the first in Clark County to offer a drive-thru window, patio, and wine.

This is the second Winans location. The other is located at North Fountain Avenue in downtown Springfield.

The bank and Winans will be located at 1408 N. Limestone and 1406 N. Limestone. Both locations are slated to open in late 2019.
