Background/Overview: Robert Woodburn is one member in a fourth generation of a family that owns a large produce farm in Urbana. He enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to a base in Florida. He met Summer on a blind date in her hometown of Pensacola. A year later they were married, and now have five young children. Robert had become a pilot with FedEx. In 2012, it was brought to his attention that the Woodburn family needed them to move home as soon as possible to manage the family farm, so they immediately planned to leave the "big city for the little city."

Once settled at the farm, the couple looked for ways to integrate themselves and their children into the community. Local entrepreneur Rich Colvin presented them with a business ownership prospect. Summer thoroughly researched to find an opportunity that would fit their family and Champaign County. They decided to incorporate the products grown at their farm with other local seasonally-fresh ingredients that aren’t usually found anywhere else, and sell them in a trendy market and café setting.

The restaurant’s name was chosen as a reminder of the Florida bistro of the same name that Robert and Summer frequently enjoyed while they were dating. In April 2013, their Madison’s Downtown Market & Café settled into the heart of Urbana.

Madison’s hopes to “warm you up” in the colder weather with hearty seasonal breakfast, lunch, and sweet treat specialties handmade every day. The restaurant’s theme is, “Local. Fresh. Healthy. Fast.”
