Missing Dayton man found safe near Fairborn

UPDATE @ 12:56 p.m. (June 7):

A missing Dayton man who prompted an endangered missing alert has been found.

Sidney Hayes, 84, was found safe near Fairborn, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said.

INITIAL REPORT:

An Endangered Missing Adult Alert has been issued for an 84-year-old Dayton man last seen Wednesday evening leaving his residence on Longvale Drive.

Sidney Hayes is 6 feet 2, about 229 pounds and has brown hair and gray eyes.

He is a diabetic and may be in need of medication. He was wearing a "Buffalo Soldier" bowling jacket when he was last seen at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Hayes is believed to be driving a tan Cadillac DTS bearing license tag 892Y AM.

The alert has been issued for Montgomery County and the following regions: west central and southwest Ohio, which includes the following counties: Champaign, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby, and Warren.

If you see Hayes or know of his whereabouts, you are asked to call the state attorney general’s missing persons unit at 866-693-9171 or dial 911 to be transferred directly to the Dayton Police Department or to hear the alert information.
