There are two blasts of arctic air set to push into the Ohio Valley over the coming days with the first push of bitter cold arriving this weekend.
Temperatures for Saturday are expected to plunge 20 degrees below normal or more. While some precipitation is expected with this first blast, most of the accumulating snow will stick to snow belt counties of Michigan and northeast Ohio.

That could change early next week as weather forecast models are hinting at a potential winter storm in part of the region.

“It could be a bit of a long shot,” Elwell said, “but there is a chance some part of the Miami Valley, or at least a part of Ohio, could have snow on the ground by sometime Tuesday morning.”
While the storm track is far from certain, at least two major computer models used in weather forecasting suggest some accumulating snow Monday night into Tuesday.

However, there are several models that show the system missing our area to the east and even a few that show very little snow at all.
“I wouldn’t get too excited just yet about snow,” Elwell said, “but it will be something to keep an eye on over the weekend.”
