After the babysitter of Brown’s two sons hadn’t heard from her by Friday night, relatives became concerned. Deborah McClain said she suspected something was wrong when Brown failed to return home to pick up her children.
“She would never leave her boys behind, McClain said. “Those boys are her life.”
Officers obtained a search warrant and during the course of a detailed search discovered Brown’s body hidden in the basement of her mother’s house
The basement is an area primarily occupied by Samuel Littleton II, 37, who is described as the boyfriend of Brown’s mother.
Littleton currently is being sought nationwide in conjunction with the investigation as a person of interest, officers said today.
Anyone with information about Littleton’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Bellefontaine Police Department at 937-599-1010 or its tips line at 937-599-8477.
WPKO-FM is reporting that the Logan County Sheriff’s Office recovered a car belonging to Littleton on Township Road 33 near Lewistown Wednesday night around 6:20 p.m. A resident near there told deputies that the car was there for several days.
Positive identification and official cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Bellefontaine officers said they would not release additional information until a Friday afternoon press conference.
A 1997 Honda Civic belonging to the mother of two was found Monday on East Columbus Road in an apartment complex, according to Bellefontaine police.
“The vehicle was processed and detectives are investigating,” said Lt. Ron Birt, who declined to say what police found in the vehicle.
Investigators don’t believe Brown was an acquaintance of anyone living in the complex where the vehicle was found, Birt said.
Brown was wearing blue jeans and a hooded sweatshirt when last seen. She is 5 feet 3 inches tall, 180 pounds and has shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes.
