Outages affect east Springfield this afternoon

Power outages affected east Springfield late this afternoon, but it was not clear what caused it.

At its height, there were between 500 and 1,500 customers without power, according to the Ohio Edison online outage map.

Several traffic lights on the east side also were out, but no officers were available for traffic control. Some of the lights were down for about a half hour, said Lt. Michael Kranz.

Power fluctuations also apparently led to an air condition malfunction at a Frisch’s restaurant.

As of 6 p.m., there were only five outages reported in Clark County, according to the Ohio Edison map.
