“Anthem represents more than 40 percent of greater-Springfield-area residents who have private health insurance,” Eisentrager said. “We greatly appreciate the tremendous community and employer support necessary to reach an agreement with Anthem.”
Anthem officials estimate that 40 percent translates into about 350,000 members in the Springfield/Dayton area.

The 24-bed, short-stay surgical hospital opened in downtown Springfield last summer. It’s 40 physician-owners specialize in ear, nose and throat, general surgery, gastroenterology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry and urology.
Ohio Valley is also in the United Healthcare, Medicare and Caresource Medicaid networks, Eisentrager said.
