Kim Kowalski, deputy director of media relations for the attorney general, said the purpose of the forum is to gather information about consumer complaints while sharing information about preventing scams, identity theft and cyber crimes.
Kowalski said the number of consumer complaints has increased recently. The attorney general’s office hopes that the forum will provide feedback on how to strengthen its programs that help against scams.
Springfield is the fifth location the attorney general has hosted a consumer forum in. In March, Cordray was involved in the first statewide summit on consumer protection.
Cordray visited Springfield on Saturday with other top Democrats in the state to rally volunteers leading up to November’s election. Cordray will try to keep his position against Republican candidate Mike DeWine in the state’s attorney general race this fall.
