Officials: Heritage Center will be closed for at least a month

Officials with the Heritage Center of Clark County said the museum will be closed for at least a month after a pipe burst on Thursday evening.

In several of the museum’s storage rooms, there were gaping holes in the ceilings where the pipe had burst.

But Director of Collections, Virginia Weygandt said thankfully, she’s only discovered one small piece of china that was completely destroyed.

She and other employees and volunteers have been spending time moving items to dry locations while structural repairs are completed.

Un Mundo Cafe, which also operates out of the Heritage Center building said they will also be closed until further notice as a result of the busted pipe.

At this point, it’s not clear what caused the pipe to burst or how much the structural repairs will cost.
