Meadow View Growers in New Carlisle has scheduled a monarch butterfly release for 2:30 p.m. today.

“People are welcome to come and visit, see them, learn about them, and learn what they can do to entice butterflies to their own gardens with host and nectar plants,” said Debbie Campbell, an employee with Meadow View.

Monarchs and several other types of butterflies will be released in various life stages, including eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalises.

“It is time for the butterflies to go home for the winter, because we have had them all summer. We raise the sides and open the doors,” said Debbie. The monarchs migrate to Mexico during the cold season.

The nursery is a certified Monarch Waystation. This means they are dedicated to help increase the plight of both the monarch butterfly and other struggling butterfly species by growing and maintaining vital garden plants and educating the public on what they can do to help.
