There will be about 1,600 rabbits being exhibited by more than 100 participants, he said.
“This is the top breeders in the country,” Hooper said. “We’ve got people from as far away as Washington and Oregon coming in.”
The show has previously been held at both the Rogers Center in Wilmington and the former Jeffersonville Crossing Outlet Mall, Hooper said. It was expected to be at the outlet mall again this year, but the facility was sold, forcing the rabbit club to find a new venue.
“I all happened about a month ago,” Hooper said.
The state show was held in Springfield this year, Hooper said, where he talked with Executive Director Dean Blair about hosting the national show.

“We’re delighted to have them,” Blair said.
The details were set up for the show in about two days, Hooper said.
“I told (Dean) I should get into wedding planning,” he said.
Spectators are welcome to walk through the barns, Hooper said, but it’s not the most exciting event. Each class will take about two hours to judge, he said.
“It’s mostly all breeders who are here and people are basically just swapping animals,” he said.
